Leadership in School

“If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more, and become more, you are a leader.” —John Quincy Adams

Leadership in school is crucial as it helps students develop essential skills like communication, decision-making, and teamwork, preparing them for future roles in society.
Being part of the Students’ Council can significantly impact a child’s life by providing practical experience in leadership and governance.

Students’ Council members often serve as representatives for their peers, learning to listen to diverse viewpoints and advocate for the needs and interests of their classmates. This experience helps them understand the importance of inclusivity and empathy, essential qualities for effective leadership.

Being part of the Students’ Council allows students to develop organizational and time management skills, as they often juggle academic responsibilities with council duties. They learn to prioritize tasks, manage conflicts, and work towards common goals, all of which are valuable life skills.

Also, involvement in the Students’ Council work can boost a child’s confidence and self-esteem. Successfully leading initiatives and seeing positive changes within their school community can be incredibly empowering, encouraging them to take on leadership roles in the future.

Our Prefects experienced this first hand and realised that leadership in school and being part of the Students’ Council can have a profound impact on personal development, preparing them to become responsible and empathetic leaders in their adult lives.
At The Heritage School North Campus, we deliver the learning and development integral for successful transformation. Consistently, we develop leaders to be proactive in the face of today’s changing environment and adept at navigating unpredictable situations. Our Students’ Council clubbed throughout the year to take back some really great practices around diversity and inclusion.
